Just off Earls Court Road, Brownie Box is a quirky little café serving up American-style treats in a no-frills setting. Here, there are no designated areas for Instagram or florals stealing the show, but instead, Brownie Box channels all its efforts into what really counts: brownies. Filled with chunks of Cadbury’s Oreo chocolate, spread with Nutella or swirled with peanut butter, there’s even a vegan-friendly option that swaps dairy for extra dark chocolate.
While most London bakeries would stop there, Brownie Box has an unbelievable spread of blondies too (the brownie’s white chocolate equivalent). From a classic, buttery sweet blondie crammed with huge white chocolate chips to a red velvet beauty (almost pink-ish in colour thanks to creamy white chocolate) and daily-changing specials.
On my visit, I was lucky enough to get my hands on amaretto blondies, giving a fudgy base ample crunch and sweet flavours of almond. It was like eating a white chocolate almond croissant, minus the pastry and with extra heaps of butter. Divine.
Do blondes have more fun? I am starting to believe they do.
