The best cupcakes at Molly’s Cupcakes

While writing my previous blog on the best cupcakes in NYC (click here), I realized Molly’s cupcakes does so many creative cupcake flavors, it deserves a separate blogpost featuring my favorite ones. What makes Molly’s cupcakes stand out is the fillings, combining different desserts into one little cupcake and making each bite better than the first. So if you’re ever feeling indecisive about your sweet treat, just swing by Molly’s cupcakes – literally, as they have swings inside – where you can enjoy it all.

Blueberry Cheesecake cupcake:

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the size of those graham crackers crumbs, adding a little crunch to the velvety pastry cream and cheesecake filling? Can we also take a moment to appreciate the glazing on the blueberries, both on top and inside the cake? You know, it’s the small things in life that matter the most.

Crème Brûlée cupcake:

Want to know what happens when French desserts meet the world of cupcakes? In Molly’s hands, this crème brûlée cupcake is what happens. The caramelized sugar layer covering the vanilla cake is totally worth the sticky fingers and calories, just like the classic crème brulee custard inside.

Cake Batter cupcake:

This is probably Molly’s most famous, most genius, most outrageous cupcake flavor. Behold the cake batter cupcake: confetti cake filled with a sugary sweet raw cake batter, oozing right out of the middle and making your childhood dreams come true. Enough said.

Cookie Monster cupcake:

While the fluffy buttercream and chocolate chip cookie might be the initial attraction, the best part of this cupcake is hidden inside. Take a bite into the super soft vanilla cake, and you’ll find a center of raw cookie dough and even more chocolate chips. This one might be my favorite, but please don’t ever make me choose.

Boston Cream cupcake:

This Boston Cream cupcake definitely goes heavy on the chocolate. The copious amount of dark chocolate genache with white chocolate curls almost overwhelms the modest amount of pastry cream in the center, but as someone who loves chocolate I’m definitely not complaining. If you care more about the cream you might not be happy with this one.
