Chin Chin might be known as London’s first and only liquid nitrogen ice cream parlour (frozen in front of you with billowing clouds), the Soho spot-meets-science lab is home to so many more out-of-the-ordinary offerings. The Chin Chin creators are constantly pushing the boundaries, adding new ice cream-driven desserts to the menu on a weekly basis and showcasing weird but wonderful combinations.
Expect scoops of ice cream sandwiched between crisp choux pastry (bursting with raspberry jam in the centre), banana jam pie covered in a crunchy bruléed layer plus a swirl of whipped cream, and cookies in a variety of life-changing ways.
The best way to handle a cold day, The Warmie features a base of vanilla cookie dough, all ooey gooey and warm with melted chocolate chips dotting throughout, balanced nicely with Chin Chin’s creamy Tonka Bean ice cream. And it recently went vegan, so everyone can tuck into this comforting delight.
To curb your chocolate cravings, order the Princess Cookie. Topped with dulce de leche, toasted hazelnuts and cranberries, this big chunk is made using 70% Valhrona chocolate that results in a super dense, moist and almost brownie-like interior, the kind that sticks to your palate and has you far from feeling like a princess.
I’ve made it my mission to try the entire menu, so come back here for regular updates on Chin Chin’s must-eat desserts.
