Coming to us from the other side of the world, Brisbane-born hit Doughnut Time made its UK debut in London’s Shaftesbury Avenue not too long ago. Now, with ten locations across the city and undoubtedly many more to come, you literally can’t escape these gluttonous rounds of dough.
So what’s all the fuss about? Beyond their satisfyingly big size (less isn’t more when it comes to sweets, ok), these doughnuts are stuffed to the brim with our favourite fillings (read: Nutella or jam) and decorated with hugely creative toppings. And I’m not talking teeny tiny crumbs, but whole pieces of Biscoff cookies, entire chocolate bars and even Percy Pig candies (dubbed as P.I.G Actually). Pair that with a classic glaze and a few finishing touches, and you’ve got yourself the most indulgent donuts in London.
Doughnut Time rolls out new flavors on a weekly basis, but I was lucky enough to get my hands on Santa Bae Bae: a vegan(!) donut dressed up with a slab of sweet vanilla buttercream, chocolate chunks and soft cushions of cookie dough. Let’s all sign a petition to make this a permanent item.
Just as notable and wittily-named, the Caramacklemore is covered in white chocolate and Caramac pieces, Snicki Minaj celebrates all-things snickers, and Love At First Bite is here to stay for obvious reasons.
