A new breakfast café in North London, the aptly-named England’s Lane café is already buzzing with people and a lively atmosphere, as if it’s been there forever. It’s a beautiful, multi-leveled space on the corner of England Lane (where else), filled with light wooden furnishings and lots of natural light. Seating options aplenty (outdoor terrace included), but with great Antipodean-inspired dishes on the menu, a short wait is the rule rather than the exception.
Smashed avocado on toast is spicy and slightly tangy, with sharp flavours from feta and pomegranates on top. Sweetcorn fritters are soft yet bursting with crispy spring onions, served with tomato jam and mayonnaise – no need to settle for just one sauce.
England’s Lane Café cleverly balances veggie-friendly options with bacon bagels, burgers and a chorizo hash, which is a massive bowl of spring potatoes, poached eggs, cherry tomatoes and of course, chorizo chunks. Whatever you order, don’t miss the counter of treats: the apple crumble cake, the berry cheesecake and cookies can only mean thing: bressert (brunch dessert).
