Luminary Bakery

Luminary Bakery - lemon loaf
A social enterprise serving sweets that make a difference...

Bringing you baked goods that make a difference, Luminary Bakery is a social enterprise giving woman the necessary skills to kick-start their career. That warm and welcoming feeling flows through the café in Stoke Newington, with many locals dropping in to support such a great cause.

Luminary Bakery - cinnamon bun

Mornings start with sourdough breads and focaccia sandwiches, finished off with sweet treats that are often sold out by mid-afternoon. Because one cannot simply resist Luminary’s cinnamon buns (served warm and swirled cream cheese icing), classy cakes decorated with dried fruits and flowers, as well as the “benjamina” traybake brimming with pear, honey and more-ish marzipan (it’s a fan favourite).

Luminary Bakery - lemon blueberry cake

But spring flavours is where I believe the bakery truly shines: Luminary’s lemon loaf is maxed out with lemons in both the cake and icing (bonus points for thickness here), while the blueberry lemon cake is just as dense and moist, sweetened with a blob of blueberry compote. Order both, and know that you’re fuelling more than just your own happiness.
