Finding and taste testing every cupcake in New York is a fun hobby in itself, but Sprinkles adds a whole new dimension to the experience. A pink-colored cupcake ATM to be precise, churning out picture-perfect cupcakes day and night (never mind your late-night pizza slice, my cravings call for something sweeter). But then comes the hard part: choosing amongst Sprinkles’ never-ending, always-evolving line-up of flavors, from crowd-pleasing classics to specials made with seasonal ingredients or a sprinkling of fun – these are my all-time favorites, ranked by order.
Lemon blueberry cupcake
Reminding you exactly why blueberries and lemon make the perfect pair, this cupcake achieves juicy bursts in every bite. A light, lemony cupcake is studded with little blueberries and frosted with lemon-infused cream cheese – tangy, sweet and completely gluten free.
Triple cinnamon cupcake
Inspired by comforting cinnamon rolls, Sprinkles’ triple cinnamon cupcake snuggles your inside with smooth cinnamon cream cheese frosting, copious amounts of cinnamon sugar and a warming buttermilk base.
Strawberry cupcake
Simple and sweet, this irresistible pink concoction is packed with puréed strawberries in both the cake and frosting.
Lucky Charms cupcake
Reimagining your bowl of cereal and challenging the New Year health kick, Sprinkles offers a selection of fun, cereal-topped cupcakes throughout January. Lucky charms on top of pure strawberry frosting? Now that’s worth waking up early for.
Sprinkles cupcake
It should be illegal to visit Sprinkles without ordering their Sprinkles cupcake. A vanilla base is all fluffy and soft (loaded with rainbow sprinkles throughout), while a topping of vanilla buttercream gets added color and crunch thanks to countless, rainbow-colored non-pareils.
Banana cupcake
Similar to old-fashioned banana bread, but a tad sweeter and a whole lot more satisfying, this no-nonsense creation packs puréed banana in a golden-brown cake, which is then finished off with smooth-as-can-be vanilla buttercream. Dreamy.
Black velvet cupcake
The sister of Sprinkles’ signature red velvet, this special cupcake makes an appearance every now and then, and when it does, be sure to try it before it’s gone (think Black Friday weekend or Halloween). Made with dark cacao and whipped chocolate ganache, it’s the deepest, darkest and most chocolatey cake you’ll ever eat.
Red velvet cupcake
A classic done exceptionally well, Sprinkles’ red velvet creation achieves new heights with an extra dose of chocolate quotient (Callebaut cacao, to be exact), making the supremely moist cake deeply rich and dark. Then, it’s topped with a slathering of cream cheese, ensuring every mouthful is as decadent as the next.
