As you’re elbowing your way through the Oxford street crowds and feel like giving up on retail therapy completely, head to Blondies Kitchen for a slice of heaven. Tucked away in the far corner of Selfridge’s food hall, a counter is piled high with supersized cookies in an array of indulgent flavors – all crisp around the edges, snuggly soft on the inside and paired with a jug of milk. Yes, Blondies Kitchen is London’s first ever milk and cookie bar, founded by professionally trained chefs Kristelle and Chelsie who are obsessed with American-style cookies and New York’s forward-thinking dessert scene…
That means you’ll find their signature cookies in all sorts of ways, from Nutella-lined cookie cups to cookies topped with more treats (think Jammie Dodgers, Kinder bars, Oreos) and more recently, enormous 7-inch cookies in two impossible-to-choose-from varieties.
One is studded with chocolate chips and stuffed with a thick spread of Nutella (perfect for chocolate lovers), while a plain vanilla cookie is enriched with caramel and Biscoff spread inside (it’s like eating a giant Dutch stroopwaffle, but thicker, stickier and a million times better). Both are best when warmed up in the oven, making the insides almost cake-like in structure and soothingly soft.
But it’s not just cookies: Blondies Kitchen also serves ready-to-eat raw cookie dough. Tasting exactly like the addictive (and perhaps dangerous) stuff you would eat at home, it’s scooped up in a little convenient container with a shot of milk, allowing you to experience the dynamic duo however you want. Dunk your dough in the milk, follow each spoonful with a sip, or go all out and pour it over that unbaked goodness.
The mix-ins are just as impressive. Blondies Kitchen swaps teeny tiny toppings for something more substantial, infusing their cookie dough with chunky brownie bites or large chocolate buttons (dark or WHITE chocolate). Did I mention the cereal milk? Told you this place was heaven.
