From crisp pastries to super fluffy milk breads to layers of richly flavoured cake, these are the best things I ate this month.

Passionfruit cruffin: Sourdough Sophia

Orange & almond cake: Petersham Nurseries

Red velvet cupcake: Flavourtown Bakery
Red velvet cupcake with a scoop of cheesecake in the sponge, cream cheese frosting – creamy, extra sweet, with a white chocolate dip – white chocolate chips and a mini red velvet slice on top. This was a weekend special but Flavourtown Bakery has done a similar topping with funfetti cake, so I expect more flavours to come.

Shokubomb: Arôme Bakery
Soft, super fluffy Japanese milk bread filled with jasmine tea-infused cream, a dollop of strawberry jam and thinly sliced strawberries on top, it’s big but incredibly light.

Bignè croccanti: Lina Stores

Gelato stick: Gelateria 3Bis
Vanilla gelato with a shell of white chocolate – thin but super creamy, sweet but not cloying – Smarties, sprinkles and an extra drizzle of white chocolate to finish. This is only available at the Gelateria 3Bis’ pop-up stall in Borough Market!

Banana tahini bread: Layla Bakery
Banana bread with tahini – subtle, not too tahini-y at all – and a golden-brown, sesame-sprinkled crust, it’s soft and so squidgy.
332 Portobello Rd, London W10 5SA

Chocolate cake: The Elder Press Café
Deep, dark chocolate cake with Ozone coffee icing, it’s fudgy and rich and quite possibly, the best chocolate cake in the capital.
